YOU'VE GOT 7 MILLION VOICE MAILS!

(Personal project - Game Jam | January 2018)

The phone is ringing: this is the Prime Minister from Great Britain who wants to talk with Brazil's President. Got to link them fast, this can be important! But you also have China online, maybe it is better to put them on the waiting line... Wait, were not these two countries on bad terms? Better connect them through the "Peace Organization" to avoid any diplomatic incident then. By the way, what did the news just say about Russia and Australia again?

In this atypical game, you "simply" have to connect phone lines from 20 different countries to the right one in an old-looking office. However, many factors will make it harder to complete this task than it looks like at first glance. You've got 7 million voice mails ! was created in 48 hours for the Global Game Jam 2018 with 4 other students, to change our minds from our graduation project a bit while still being creative. As the theme was "Transmission", we went with the idea of the phone operator and tried to make something a bit funny about it.

Once we agreed on the topic and the global concept, I was in charge of the global system and deciding how everything would interweave, thinking about what the signs and feedbacks would be, sketching the User Interface, and such. Even if it was not perfect, most of these features made it to the (buggy) prototype we delivered at the end of the event. I also helped with small aspects here and there (including procedurally-generated flavour texts), and dealt with the sound design (including lending my voice to the top-notch mumbling that can be heard while picking up the phone).
